Hewlett-Packard Co. has won a contract worth more than $2 billion from General Motors Co. to manage the automobile giant's technology infrastructure from manufacturing plants to the boardroom.
Palo Alto-based HP (NYSE: HPQ) will mange GM's network, workplace, mainframes, applications and systems integration services for global operations, including the OnStar vehicle location service. The infrastructure HP will run global service desk and site support services in more than 50 countries and languages, support tens of thousands of desktop computers and mobile devices and business systems, including financial transactions and supply chain.
The new agreement renews HP's contract a year early and extends the two companies’ 25-year relationship, HP said in a news release.
